School Bans Student's Blogs

Isn't this going overboard?

NEWARK, N.J. ? A Roman Catholic high school has ordered its students to remove their online diaries from the Internet, citing a threat from cyberpredators.

Students at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta appear to be heeding a directive from the principal, the Rev. Kieran McHugh.

McHugh told them in an assembly earlier this month to remove any personal journals they might have or risk suspension.

    According to some reports, a fair amount of the blogs which they are now requiring to be removed, are very critical of the school and some of the things it attempts to instill.

    It's unfortunate that an organization, especially a religious one which should at least try to be above such behavior, to attempt to censor criticism and free speech in a way that would spark a revolution if a government tried it.
