Mommy, Why is There a Server in the House?

This cracked me up, and some of the “reviews” have some additional humor in them as well.

Apparently a marketing stunt by Microsoft to promote their Home Server product.

Believe it or not, I plan on installing a server at home within the next 2-3 years.

I’ve got two computers running now. Mine, and the kids (next to each other).

While neither is really a “server” in the traditional sense, they are networked together and I back up each computer automatically onto the other.

I am thinking about adding Network Accessible Storage (NAS) though, instead, so that I don’t have to keep both of the machines up and running at all times. The NAS could stay on for the automated backups and extra storage, but consume a lot less energy.
